CHCDEV002 Analyse impacts of sociological factors on clients in community work and services

This student workbook covers each of the elements within this unit of competency in a sequenced manner incorporating videos, readings and activities. The workbook is developed to ensure that students have been provided with sufficient content and knowledge to undertake assessment for this unit. 

Most people who work in the community service sector are motivated to do so because of their world-view. That is, they see the way in which social and cultural issues impact on certain groups of people and believe that as a society we have a responsibility to help those who experience disadvantage.

At the completion of this unit, students must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively do the tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, predominantly:

  • identify social and cultural issues impacting on clients in Australian society
  • analyse impacts of social and cultural factors on clients
  • monitor impact of social and cultural factors on community work and services provided to clients

This student workbook is supported by essential readings to give the student a broad understanding of the unit of competency within the community services sector. The readings will help students to develop further keen interest in the sector and assist in motivation to continue with studies.
